Today we start a new discussion, Fantasy films and there continued growth in Hollywood. This next flick is entitled Labyrinth a family friendly live action movie entwined with puppets and produced by the best in the business Jim Henson. The film stars David Bowie as the Goblin King and a young Jennifer Connelly as the maiden in distress on the look out for her baby brother, Toby.

Serious Sci-Fi # 10

Today we tackle a very important subject, Star Trek and since this is a newbie friendly blog we will cover some basics first. Rule # 1, some people live Trek all their lives and take this very seriously, some would say religiously. Rule # 2, Teleportation, there I said it, as this is a big sticking point to the non-sci-fi loving audience out there. Rule # 3, Trek babble, this is a major component of all Star Trek movies. All three points are major reasons why the average movie goer avoids Trek films in the past but hopefully not in the future.

Serious Sci-Fi # 9

Many of you may be detecting a trend here, this next Sci-Fi film is yet another film directed by Paul Verhoeven. Now, I am by no means this guys defender, I just feel his films are more directed to non sci-fi types. Total Recall is one such movie, this flick is more of an action movie that a newbie can understand and follow easily.

I would have to say I feel safe to say that Cloverfield will open with $42 million! And that the Patriots will go down!
